Hi all, it's Tracey. I know it has been a while since we did a post of any sort. I'm sorry, between school and work and church functions we've been pretty busy. Plus we've had a bunch of company here of late :) It's been a nice but busy time.
I found a big roll of duct tape in the basement yesterday. I'm not sure why I needed duct tape the other day but I made sure I brought it upstairs since I found it. Since bringing it upstairs I've used it twice. I love the stuff.
Kevin's office had a luncheon yesterday so I made a green bean casserole for them. I wanted it to be hot so they wouldn't have to worry about having to reheat it so I made it late yesterday morning. That presented a problem in that I don't have anything here to transport something straight out of the oven to another location. Inspiration hit and I found my solution. I took a cardboard base from a case of water, cut the corners so they would fold, and duct taped it together so there were sides. Here is a picture.

I'm taking orders now if you'd like to purchase a duct tape tray as a Christmas present. Make sure and allow plenty of time for delivery, there's only so much water one can drink.
I also thought I'd post some pictures of my latest kitchen adventure. Our church here in Louisville is hosting a 'Ladies Fall Tea' this afternoon and I was asked to bring strawberries and cream. I love to play around in the kitchen so I happily said "Yes". The recipe isn't hard but I was going to have to use a piping bag to fill the strawberries with cream. Can't be that hard right? Well for the inexperienced like me it was interesting. I will say most of my problems were with my equipment and not my technique.
First problem was a piping bag blowout. Yesterday afternoon I picked up a cheap little piping bag set with some tips and two bags. I think grand total of it was 2.99 so you know it was high quality. I made my icing and got most of it in the bag. I'm definitely going to have to figure out how to get more of it in the bag. I think I wound up with cream to my elbows. I got most of it in there and worked to the bottom and started to fill the strawberries. After the second strawberry the seam on my high quality bag split. I fought so hard getting the icing into the stinking bag I was not going to take it back out. My first attempt at fixing the bag was to lightly wrap cling wrap around it and duct tape over that. No success. As much as I hated to I put the icing that hadn't wound up on my arms or exploded out the bag back in the mixing bowl. I took the other bag that came in my set and as a precautionary measure I reinforced the seams with a lovely strip of duct tape.

My duct tape reinforced piping bag has worked beautifully. I plan on keeping it as long as I can keep it clean.
Here's a picture of one of the finished strawberries.

If you would like to purchase anything from our Fall/Winter Duct Tape Collection please let me know.
See ya'll soon!!!

Thanks for the update!!!! I will take 1 of each of your fall collection!!! :)
Oh, and forget the duct tape tray...I want some of those strawberries and cream!
Love you and hope you will keep us all posted more often.
Aunt Beverly - I will definitely try and update the site more. :) That's a great idea about the show though. I've often thought that a good cooking show would be one based in a real kitchen, not the incredibly huge nice ones they have. I think it would work....
